How the search works
The tool connects to multiple torrent indexers through a Jackett-compatible Torznab backend. When you enter a search query, it fans out to all configured sources and aggregates the results.
Each result shows the torrent name, size, seeders, leechers, and the indexer it came from. You can compare sources for the same content and pick the one with the best seed ratio.
The search endpoint returns results without charging credits. You only pay when you actually download a torrent file. This means you can search freely, browse results, and decide whether anything is worth downloading before spending anything.
Download tokens
When you find a torrent you want, the tool generates an encrypted download token. This token is a time-limited, single-use credential that lets you fetch the actual .torrent file or magnet link.
The token system exists for two reasons. First, it keeps your credentials to the underlying indexers private. You never see or handle the raw indexer authentication. Second, it prevents abuse. Each download costs a small amount of credits, and the token expires after use.
Credit cost
Downloads cost $0.001 per query, charged only when results are returned. An empty search costs nothing. This is deliberately cheap. The point is not to monetize torrent searching. It is to prevent someone from hammering the backend with automated bulk queries.
For comparison, a single search across multiple indexers costs less than a hundredth of a cent. Even heavy use amounts to a few cents per month.
Login required
BT Search requires an authenticated account. This is not arbitrary gating. The tool interacts with third-party indexers on your behalf, and the login ties downloads to a specific user for abuse prevention and rate limiting.
If you are not logged in, you cannot search. Once you are in, the experience is straightforward.
What it does not do
No seeding or leeching. This is a search and download tool. The actual torrent downloading happens in your client.
No content hosting. BT Search does not store any torrent files or content. It queries indexers and passes through the results.
No indexer management. You cannot add or remove sources. The available indexers are configured server-side.
No streaming. Find the torrent, download the file, open it in your client. There is no in-browser playback.
